I write. I edit. I proofread. Most importantly, I help organizations tell their stories and build their brands through clear, engaging and effective copy and content.
The written word has always been my strength. Originally, I honed my skills as a journalist -- cranking out stories for The Orange County Register on wildfires, city scandals and the celebrated return of the swallows to San Juan Capistrano. Later, I covered personal finance for Investor's Business Daily and wrote and edited publications for a printing trade association in Washington, D.C.
Those experiences gave me a firm foundation in how to communicate almost any topic to almost any audience, and in 1999, I founded Studio K Communications and began sharing those skills to help companies and nonprofits.
I've been doing it ever since, working with such diverse clients as Children's Hospital Los Angeles, University of the Pacific, University of Southern California, Jamba Juice, Anheuser-Busch, Grapevine Communications, Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, Sanford Burnham Prebys Medical Discovery Institute, Ventura Foods and many more.
I have won several awards for my writing, including multiple MarCom Creative Awards and a Robert G. Fenley Writing Award from the American Association of Medical Colleges. I've contributed to several Healthcare Public Relations and Marketing Association Awards for Children's Hospital Los Angeles.
Outside of work, I love tennis, bird photography and getting outdoors. (The bird photos on this site are mine.) I'm a past board member for the L.A. and San Diego chapters of the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC), and I currently serve on the Volunteer Committee at Anstine-Audubon Nature Preserve in Vista, California.
